LOWELL, Mass. –The Seton Hall men's soccer team (1-2-0) was felled by a golden goal in the 98^th minute at UMass Lowell (3-0-0) on Friday night at Cushing Field. The overtime setback came at the end of the first overtime period after a scoreless regulation.

Wuilito Fernandes found the back of the net for the River Hawks at the end of the first overtime period, spoiling what had been to that point a terrific defensive effort for the Pirates. Julian Spindler (Weiserbach, Germany) made three saves on the night, none bigger than a diving stop on a direct free kick attempt in the 44^th minute.

The Pirates nearly broke through the scoreless deadlock in the 72^nd minute when Brandon Sabinsky (Belle Mead, N.J.) took a long ball from Matheus Miranda (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and made a run up the right side. Sabinsky flicked in a perfect cross to Jonathan Jimenez (Cape Coral, Fla.) in the box, but the freshman's header nicked the crossbar before going out of play.

The Hall had another golden opportunity with a 19-yard free kick in the 78^th minute that saw Andres Arcila (Cartagena, Colombia) send an attempt over the cage. UMass Lowell nearly found a winner with 40 seconds left in regulation but the Pirate defense came up with a team save and cleared the attempt off the line.

Turning Point
After over 97 minutes of scoreless action, UMass Lowell finally broke through with a goal from Fernandes in the 98^th minute. The forward made a run through the right side of the box and took a feed from Ivan Abramovic before sneaking a hard shot past Spindler for his third goal of the year.
