January 2018
Â
Happy New Year, Pirate Nation! As the calendar turns to January, college basketball is just starting to heat up. We are only 59 days away from Selection Sunday and 60 days from Selection Monday! There is a ton of basketball to be played between now and then!
Â
Men's Basketball Ready to Rock at Prudential Center
Â

Â
The excitement around South Orange and Newark is overflowing right now as the men's basketball team has reached No. 13 in the Associated Press National Top 25 poll that is built upon the team's 14-3 start overall and 3-1 start to BIG EAST play.
Â
The buzz has been so much so that are next two home games – this Saturday vs. Georgetown and next Saturday vs. Xavier – are already sold out!
Â
Thank you to all the fans who are helping make Prudential Center a great home-court environment for our student-athletes. I know they will be very LOUD for these next two home games. And let's try to keep that up for the remaining five as well. If you don't have tickets yet to see the nationally ranked Pirates, be sure to get them now and bring a friend who maybe has not yet gotten to experience BIG EAST basketball at The Rock. Now's the time.

Â
Time to #PackWalsh for Women's Basketball
Â

Â
Our women's basketball team has already been put through a tough test with its schedule and travel. Four of its five Midwest conference games have taken place within the first six games on the schedule, all coming in a span of just 14 calendar days. That can take its toll, but now the Pirates can look forward to three consecutive home games and no road games for the next two weeks.
Â
Our women thrive on your support at Walsh Gymnasium, so I hope that you can help #PackWalsh for the next three games, starting this Friday night vs. Villanova and Sunday afternoon vs. Georgetown. Get your tickets by calling (973) 275-4255 or by visiting the Seton Hall Athletics ticket office on gameday.
Â
Welcome Andreas Lindberg to the Seton Hall Family
Â

Â
You can't argue with success. Winners find ways to win, and that is certainly the case with our new men's soccer head coach Andreas Lindberg.
Â
Consider this: Andreas was the head coach at LIU-Post for nine years, and in those nine years, his program was 139-30-15, won eight regular season conference championships, six conference tournament championships and made seven NCAA Tournament appearances. The NCAA bids are even more impressive considering that LIU-Post's conference does not issue an automatic bid. His squads had to earn them.
Â
He has proven that he is a successful leader, and we are excited that he is bringing his expertise to Seton Hall University. I know he cannot wait to get our student-athletes out on the field to get ready to compete for BIG EAST championships and NCAA Tournament appearances.
Â
Feel free to read up more about Andreas joining our family here.
Â
Join us at the First Pitch Dinner, Featuring Zack Granite
Â

Â
Our baseball First Pitch Dinner is just two weeks away, Thursday, Jan. 25, at the University Center's Main Lounge at 6 p.m. We are very excited to start the baseball season, and even more excited that our special guest this year is Minnesota Twins centerfielder and Seton Hall alumnus Zack Granite!
Â
Zack is as good as they come, and we are so proud of all the hard work he's put in to make it to the Major Leagues. And if you're not familiar with Zack's work, just check out what he did in his first career start.
Â
To register for this fun evening, use this registration form, or contact Mike Engemann in the Pirate Blue office at 973-275-6447 or michael.engemann@shu.edu.
Â
Spring Semester Upon Us
Â
Our students go back to class this coming Wednesday and that also means that our spring sports are almost upon us. We are just a few weeks away from the start of golf, baseball, softball and tennis, and the BIG EAST Swimming & Diving Championship is six weeks away. We can't wait to see our student-athletes competing once again!
