
Jackson Scores 22 In Win at Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Behind a game-high 22 points from JaQuan Jackson (Killeen, Texas), the Seton Hall women's basketball team (13-8, 5-5 BIG EAST) won its third-straight and leveled its conference record with a 65-56 win at Providence (8-14, 1-9) on Friday morning. The win marked a regular season sweep of the Friars to kick off the second half of the BIG EAST round-robin schedule.
Jackson's 22 points came via an efficient 7-of-10 performance from the floor, as the senior captain went 3-for-5 from 3-point range and was a perfect 5-of-5 from the charity stripe. She was joined in double-figures by Shadeen Samuels (Ossining, N.Y.), who finished just shy of a double-double with 10 points and a team-high rebounds. The Pirates also got a combined 17 points and 11 assists from the point guard duo of Inja Butina (Zagreb, Croatia) and Nicole Jimenez (Miami, Fla.) and notched 15 steals in the win.

The Pirates led 10-9 after an airtight first quarter, before going down 15-12 early in the second frame. The Hall answered the deficit emphatically, closing the second quarter on an 8-0 run as part of a 14-3 spurt to take a double-digit lead to the break at 30-20. The Hall managed to hold onto that double-digit advantage for the majority of the second half.
