Â

KINGSMILL INTERCOLLEGIATE

Location:Â Williamsburg, Va.
Course: Â Kingsmill Resort (River Course)
Course Vitals:Â Par-70, 6,794 yards
Dates:Â March 25-27, 2018
Â
The Course:
For more than three decades, The River Course has hosted the world's best players on both PGA and LPGA tours. Bordered by the calm azure waters of the James River, this famed championship course has tested the mettle of the game's most famous names. On a still morning, dew still beading on the precisely manicured greens, you can almost hear the echoes of applause for crisply struck irons and delicately holed putts. The River Course inspires you to test your own mettle. The course has been reborn thanks to the efforts of original architect Pete Dye. The renowned course designer tinkered just enough with his layout, bringing out the subtle details that make for a truly unforgettable round of golf.
Â
The Field:
In addition to Seton Hall and host William & Mary, the robust field features 22 other teams including: Â Air Force, Appalachian State, Binghamton, Delaware, Drexel, Eastern Michigan, Fairleigh Dickinson, Fort Wayne, George Washington, Iona, Longwood, Loyola, Old Dominion, Radford, Southern Illinois, St. Bonaventure, St. Francis (Pa.), St. Joseph's, Towson, Utah Valley, Xavier, and Youngstown State.
Â
The Seton Hall Lineup:
Yeom and Yip spearheaded an assault on the Seton Hall record books as the Rio Verde Intercollegiate. A day after shooting par or better on all 36 holes, Yeom completed his historic tournament with a 4-under-par, 68. The junior registered six birdies on the afternoon, and two bogeys, his only two of the entire tournament. For the event, he placed sixth with a Seton Hall record-breaking 13-under-par, 66-69-68-203. His 203 breaks Lloyd Jefferson Go's par-72, three-round score of 205 set just last spring at the same event. Furthermore, Yeom's 13-under-par score ties former Pirate Kyle Morris for the most strokes under for any par in a single tournament.Â
Â
Not to be outdone, Yip didn't have a single blemish in his third round, and rode seven birdies to a career-best 7-under, 65. His 65 ties Go for the lowest par-72 single-round score in Seton Hall history.Â
Â
Yip had two rounds under par for the tournament, and finished with a career-best 5-under-par, 71-75-65-211. He tied for 24th place overall, registering his second straight sub-par tournament to begin the spring season.
Â
Nagai also put in a career-best effort for the tournament. In round three, he turned in his third straight sub-par round, using four birdies and an eagle on the par-5, 11th hole to fuel a 3-under-par, 69. Nagai ended up tying for 15th place among 107 individual golfers with a career-low 8-under-par, 68-71-69-208.
Â
With so many individual standout performances, naturally several team records fell at the Loyola Intercollegiate as well. Only 24 hours after the Pirates set a new team record for the lowest par-72 single-round score with a first round, 277, they did it again today with a 15-under-par, 273.
Â
Seton Hall finished the tournament in seventh place at an astonishing 24 strokes under par with a 277-290-273-840. The result shatters Seton Hall's previous records for most strokes under par for a single tournament (11) and lowest par-72 three-round score (857).
Â
