NEW YORK – Seton Hall's James Boote (Southampton, England) and Rikard Cederberg (Gothenburg, Sweden) have each been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the conference announced on Monday. The duo combined for three goals and two assists in Saturday night's 4-2 victory over UConn.
Boote posted a huge night on Saturday, scoring a goal and adding two assists as part of the win. Boote had the secondary assist on the Pirates' second goal of the night, playing a long ball forward for Andrea Borg (Sliema, Malta) who crossed one in for Cederberg at the near post. In the second half, Boote swung in a beautiful cross off a free kick that fell perfectly to Cederberg at the post for what proved to be the game-winning goal.
Cederberg picked up a brace in Saturday's win, scoring the first two goals of his career. Cederberg's goal in the 17th minute made it a 2-0 Pirate lead at the time, and his goal in the second half was the eventual deciding goal. The junior also helped stave off a UConn comeback in the late stages as Cederberg and the back line of defense helped protect the Seton Hall lead.
The Pirates continue BIG EAST play this Friday as they travel to take on conference newcomer Akron at 7 p.m.
