HEBRON, Ky. The Seton Hall golf team shot a final round score of 296 to place third at the BIG EAST Championships. The finish was the best placing by a Pirate team since Seton Hall won the event in 2000.
Senior Kyle Morris (Powell, Ohio) was the Pirates top finisher, shooting a +3 for the tournament to tie for fourth place. Morris shot his third consecutive 73 to close out the competition.
Sophomore David Sampson (Warren, R.I.) and junior John Zur (Glenview, Ill.) both finished tied for 14th at +6. Sampson fired the low-round of the day with a 72 on Tuesday, while Zur shot a 76, respectively.
Freshman Colin Van Es (Granger, Ind.) wrapped up his first BIG EAST Championship with a 75, and tied for 18th with a three-day score of +8. Sophomore J.C. Cardamone (Dunmore, Pa.) shot an 81 in the final round to finish tied for 53rd at +22 for the tournament.
The Pirates return to action at the Cavalier Classic on April 26-27.
