PRINCETON, N.J. - The Seton Hall men's soccer team dropped its final game of the Princeton Invitational on Sunday, falling 3-1 to the host Tigers (1-2-0). The Pirates (4-2-0) return to action on Friday when they host DePaul in the BIG EAST opener.
After a scoreless first half, Princeton took a 1-0 lead when Brad Fechter took a pass from Brandon Busch and beat sophomore Hall keeper Sean Carr (Glendora, N.J.) in the left corner of the net in the 60th minute.
The Hall wasted little time in evening things up. In the 67th minute, junior Marko Ciklic (Boonton, N.J.) rocketed a shot from 30 yards out just under the crossbar for his first career goal off a pass from senior Carlos Salazar (Kearny, N.J.).
Princeton managed to snatch momentun right back, however, going back in front just over a minute later when Josh Walburn headed in a free kick off the foot of Devin Muntz. The Tigers added an insurance goal in the 76th minute on Teddy Schneider's score from 20 yards out off a pass from Muntz.
Carr made four saves in net for the Pirates while suffering his first defeat of the season. Sean Lynch made two stops for the Tigers.
Princeton outshot the Hall by a 16-12 margin, including a 9-3 edge in attempts on goal. Ciklic led the Pirates with three shots, while Anotine Hoppenot had a game-high five for the Tigers.
