It is the first time in her career that Morris earned postseason All-BIG EAST accolades. She is turning in a spectacular senior season for the Pirates, leading the team in scoring at 13.6 points per game but 14.8 points per game against BIG EAST foes, which ranks 14th in the conference.
Morris has been Seton Hall's most consistent scoring threat all season, starting in all 29 games and leading the Pirates in scoring 17 times while reaching double figures in 20 games and scoring 20 points or more six times.
She closed the regular season on her hottest scoring streak of the year, netting at least 20 points in four of Seton Hall's final five games which included a career-high 28 point performance in the Pirates' 60-51 win over St. John's in the regular season finale on March 2.
Long-range shooting has been a strength for Morris throughout her career but she took her three-point precision to a new level during her senior campaign. She currently sits in a tie for first on Seton Hall's single-season three-point shooting list with 69 three pointers and earlier this season she broke the all-time Seton Hall three-point record with 173 treys over her four seasons in a Pirate uniform.
Over the course of the season Morris is hitting 2.38 threes per game, which ranks 55th in the NCAA, and during BIG EAST play that rate increased to 2.9 per game, the second best mark in the conference.
Morris was named to the BIG EAST Women's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll on two occasions, the first time after scoring 19 points to help the Pirates upset Rutgers University and the second time earlier this week after averaging 24.0 points per game against Louisville and St. John's and pouring in 28 points in the win over the Red Storm.
At 966 points in her career, Morris sits just 24 points behind Ashley Bush (2001-05) for 20th place in school history and needs just 34 points to become the 20th player in program history to reach 1,000 points.
With Morris named Second-Team All-BIG EAST it marks the second-straight season the Pirates have had a player earn all-conference honors after Jasmine Crew received Second-Team recognition last season. It is the first time Seton Hall has landed a player on either the All-BIG EAST first or second team in back-to-back seasons since 1997 and 1998 when Dana Wynne (1997) and Danielle Golay (1998) accomplished the feat.
Seton Hall finished the regular season with a 10-19 overall mark and a 5-11 record in the BIG EAST, earning the No. 12 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament. It is the most regular season conference wins for the Pirates since they were 9-7 in 2007 and the 10 overall wins are the most for Seton Hall since it went 17-14 in 2008-09.
The Pirates will face No. 13 seed Cincinnati in the first round of the 2013 BIG EAST Championship on Friday, March 8, at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn., at 4 p.m. Seton Hall defeated the Bearcats, 64-56, when the two teams met back on Jan. 9. Morris scored 16 points in that first meeting.
