
Richardson-Smith Named to Weekly Honor Roll

NEW YORK - Seton Hall University junior wing Tabatha Richardson-Smith (Bay City, Texas)was named to the BIG EAST Women's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll it was announced Monday by the league office.
Richardson-Smith, who landed on the honor roll five times last season when she led Seton Hall and ranked third in the conference averaging 17.1 ppg, scored a game-high 19 points to lead the Pirates to a 66-47 win over Rider in its season opener in the first round of the Preseason WNIT last Friday afternoon.
A bulk of Richardson-Smith's offensive production came in the first half, when she poured in 17 points to help the Pirates build an insurmountable 38-14 halftime cushion. The most impressive stretch of the game came over a span of just 55 seconds, when she nailed 3-pointers on three-straight possessions, converting a four-point play in the process, as the Pirates' lead ballooned to 22 points, 30-8, with just over five minutes before the half.
Seton Hall maintained a 20-plus point advantage until the waning moments of the game to win comfortably and advance to the Preseason WNIT Quarterfinals.
For the game, Richardson-Smith was efficient, scoring her 19 points on just 11 shot attempts, shooting 7-for-11 from the field and 4-for-5 from 3-point range, also pulling down five assists with a pair of steals in only 28 minutes of action.
Seton Hall continues its run in the Preseason WNIT with a quarterfinal matchup at No. 17 West Virginia on Monday night in Morgantown, W. Va. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
