NEW YORK, N.Y. - Sophomore Joe Poduslenko (Glen Mills, Pa.) was named to the BIG EAST Baseball Weekly Honor Roll on Monday.
Poduslenko batted .389 last week, and .500 in Seton Hall's three-game series at St. John's. Over the weekend, he collected at least two hits in all three games vs. the Red Storm. Making his week even more unique is that Poduslenko played five different positions in four games last week. On Wednesday, he started at third base at Wagner. On Friday, Poduslenko had three of the Pirates' five hits while starting in right field. On Saturday, he went 2-for-5 with a run scored as Seton Hall's designated hitter. In Seton Hall's rout of St. John's on Sunday, Poduslenko reached base four times going 2-for-5 with a run scored, an RBI and two walks. He started that game at second base and moved to shortstop half way through.
Creighton picked up both Player and Pitcher of the Week following their sweep of Xavier. Brett Murray was named BIG EAST Player of the Week. Keith Rogalla was named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week. Those joining Poduslenko on the Honor Roll include: St. John's Alex Caruso, Villanova's Todd Czinege and both Beau Hall and Matt Hollenbeck of Georgetown.
Poduslenko and the rest of the Pirates will return to action on Tuesday, April 14 when they host Monmouth at Owen T. Carroll Field. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
