South Orange, N.J. - The Seton Hall women's basketball coaching staff will host the second annual Anthony Bozzella Elite Camp on Saturday, June 20, at Walsh Gymnasium from 9 a.m. -- 3 p.m.
The camp, which is open to any and all entrants, will include instruction from the Pirates' coaching staff, who led the team to its first NCAA Tournament berth in 20 years this past season. On top of drills, there will be a strength and conditioning skills presentation, and pick-up games.
"I am so excited to welcome everyone to Walsh Gymnasium for our Elite Camp," said Bozzella, who has powered Seton Hall to a 48-20 record in his two seasons. "To be welcoming in some incredible talent and to have the opportunity to make players better is something that my staff and I both cherish. We are looking forward to another successful Elite Camp, and I hope that we can get the same energy rolling in Walsh Gym that we have present during all of our games."
Bozzella, who guided the Pirates to the BIG EAST regular season championship to go with a 28-6 overall record, was named the BIG EAST and Metropolitan Coach of the Year, while also being recognized as one of 10 finalists for the Naismith National Coach of the Year Award.
In Bozzella's short time at The Hall, he has proven to be a developer of talent. Ka-Deidre Simmons was named the Metropolitan Player of the Year and an Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American. She and Daisha Simmons were both first-team All-BIG EAST selections, and Daisha was the first Pirate to ever win the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year award. Junior Tabatha Richardson-Smith, the team's leading scorer at 17.8 points per game, was placed on the All-BIG EAST second team and will look for even bigger things as a senior in 2015-16.
"You want to play for a coach with that kind of energy," said Richardson-Smith when asked about Bozzella. "I love the way he pumps us up. It creates an amazing atmosphere to play in."
The Elite Camp will also include a shirt and lunch as well. The cost is $45 for the day-long session.
