Pirates Set for Second Half Opener

South Orange, N.J..- After a month and a half away from competition, the Seton Hall swimming & diving teams will begin the second half of the season this weekend. The Pirates will travel to Philadelphia to take on Drexel and Towson in a Tri-Meet at 11 a.m. on Saturday, and will be back at The Hall on Sunday for a 3 p.m. meet with Fairfield.Â

On the men's side, the Pirates (5-4, 2-1Â BIG EAST) finished the first portion of the season at the Patriot Invitational, hosted by George Mason University, where they placed fourth.Â

Finishing at the top for The Hall, Lior Grubert (Yehud-Monosson, Israel) won the 400 IMÂ with a BIG EAST best time of 3:59.73. Alongside Grubert, Vadim Jacobson (Arnold, Md.), Noah Yanchulis (Arnold, Md.) and Tyler Kauth (Wall, N.J.) picked up a first place finish in the 800 free relay with a time of 6:41.13.Â

Dakota Williams (Noank, Conn.) currently holds the top time in the 50 Free (20.74) after touching the wall second at the Patriot Invitational as well as the 100 Free (44.94). Kyle Nash (Katy, Texas) also holds a top spot in the conference in the 200 Fly (1:50.84).

The women's team also took fourth place at the Patriot Invitational, where Sara Ouellette (Granby, Conn.) notched the third top time in the BIG EAST in the 200 Back (2:01.15)

Sydney Simpson (Tallahassee, Fla.) has been on fire for the Pirates, as she grabbed a first place finish in the 100 Fly (55:14) at the Patriot Invitational, as well as a fourth place finish in the 100 breast (1:02.85) at the USA Winter Nationals. The time broke her own previous record in the stroke.
