Pirates Drop Slugfest To UMass Lowell

BRONX, N.Y. – In a contest that saw a total of 18 runs and 26 hits, the Seton Hall softball team (12-13) fell to UMass Lowell by a score of 10-8 on Friday afternoon. The contest was the first for The Hall at the Fordham Softball Tournament.
Baylee Allender (Rosharon, Texas) and Emily Supercynski (Aurora, Colo.) both had three hits for the Pirates in the setback, while Payton Beaver (Lake Stevens, Wash.) notched three RBIs. Eight different Pirates accounted for The Hall's 13 hits in the slugfest.

The Pirates have two more at the Fordham Tournament on tap for Saturday, taking on Detroit Mercy and the host Rams beginning at 4 p.m.

How it Happened
- The River Hawks took a 3-0 lead with runs in the first two innings, but the Pirates roared back with five runs on five hits in the bottom of the second to take the lead
- Supercynski got the scoring started in the second with an RBI double, followed by two-run singles from Alyssa Prukop (Coto de Caza, Calif.) and Beaver
- UML re-took the lead with three more in the top of the third before another RBI knock for Supercynski even the score at 6-6 in the bottom of the frame
- After a rare scoreless inning in the fourth, the River Hawks scored two runs in the fifth and sixth frames to pull back ahead by a score of 10-7
- The Pirates loaded the bases and put the go-ahead run on in the bottom of the seventh after Beaver drew an RBI walk, but UML got a fielder's choice to end the game
- The Pirates fall to 1-2 all-time against UMass Lowell
- Both sides recorded 13 hits in the contest, and each also committed three errors
- Allender finished 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored, while Supercynski went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a pair of RBIs
- Through her first 17 collegiate at-bats, Allender is hitting .471 with three doubles and four runs
- Supercynski has hit safely in each of her last four games and has raised her season average from .171 to .269 in that span
- The three-RBI game for Beaver was her first of the year and her third game with multiple RBIs
- Beaver has reached base safely in each of The Hall's last 13 contests
