PHILADELPHIA – Senior co-captain Frankie Maier (Oradell, N.J.) scored in the 51^st minute but the Seton Hall women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision in overtime at Saint Joseph's on Friday night. The contest marked the 2016 season opener for both the Pirates and the Hawks.

After a scoreless opening half, Maier's goal gave The Hall a lead six minutes into the second period. SJU responded seven minutes later with a goal from Dakota Mills to equalize and the contest went to extra time still deadlocked at 1-1. A touch over three minutes into the first overtime period, Mills struck again with a golden goal winner for the Hawks.
