Alfred Booth

An All-State shortstop at Newton High School, Alfred Booth came to Seton Hall and hit the cover off the baseball. As a sophomore, he hit .477, the second-highest batting average in school history at the time. According to newspaper accounts, he had 86 hits and scored 76 runs during his Seton Hall career, which spanned from 1939–42. This included 25 hits during the 1941 season and 16 hits in the Pirates’ perfect 11-0 1942 season. He was unable to enjoy a professional career because of his service with the United States Military.
