As the Seton Hall freshman baseball coach for 15 years, Charles Doehler compiled one of the highest winning records among present or past Pirates coaches at 95 percent. He also played an instrumental role in the development and success of the baseball program at Seton, as well as the young student-athletes. He is credited with preparing John Monteleone, Jack Tracey and Dan Coombs as they went on to great major league careers. He was also past president of the alumni association and a major supporter of Seton Hall.
