In 1942, Chester Lipski was a key member of the Seton Hall Two-Mile Relay team which broke the world record with a clocking of 7:33.9, with him contributing an anchor time of 1:51.4. The victory not only surpassed Seton Hall’s own world indoor mark (7:39.8, Lipski 1:52.8) set in winning the National AAU Championship, but exceeded the world outdoor mark of 7:34.5 set by the University of California in 1941.
