Craig Biggio spent three seasons (1985–87) as catcher and helped the Pirates to a 121-55 record and the 1987 BIG EAST Tournament championship. A two-time All-BIG EAST first team selection and 1987 All-American, Biggio hit .342 for his career and at the time of his induction held the school record for career triples (18) and single-season runs scored (97 in 1987). He was a first-round draft pick of the Houston Astros in 1987 and went on to become a seven-time All-Star, and in 2007, he became just the 27th Major Leaguer of all-time to reach 3,000 career hits. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2015.
