Widely regarded as the greatest women’s soccer player in Pirates history, Kelly Smith tallied a school record 76 goals and 174 points in just 51 matches over three seasons. The first player in program history to be named All-America, she was also a three-time BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year. The NCAA statistical champion in goals and points per game in 1998 and 1999, she holds two NCAA records in career points per game (3.41) and goals per game (1.49). Smith was the second overall pick in the 2001 WUSA Draft and went on to have a highly successful career in the U.S. and England. In international play, she is England’s all-time leading scorer and participated in two FIFA World Cups.
