Louis C. Benza

Louis Benza was an All-American swimmer at Evander Childs High School, where he won the New York City P.S.A.L. Championship. At Seton Hall, he captured the Eastern Collegiate backstroke and freestyle titles in 1950-51 and 1952, and won four Eastern Titles in one year. He continued swimming competitively during his three-year hitch in the Marine Corps as a First Lieutenant. While there, he captured the National AAU Outdoor Championship, beating Rex Aubrey of Australia, the Olympic Champion and world record holder.
