Martin Caffrey pitched four years of varsity baseball at Seton Hall and was a member of two College World Series teams. He made the start for the Pirates in the team’s CWS opener in 1974 vs. Southern Illinois. During his junior year, his 1.17 ERA ranked in the top 10 nationally, and he struck out 57 batters in 84-1/3 innings. After graduation, he was drafted and signed by the New York Yankees and led the New York-Penn league in ERA and appearances in 1975.
