Considered one of the top performers in both the 400 and 500 meter races, Michael Paul established five Seton Hall records and was ranked No. 2 in the world. Until Olympian Andrew Valmon broke his record in 1987, he held the outdoor 400 meters title at 45.39. He competed in the NCAA Outdoor Championship as a junior, finishing sixth in the 400 meters. He set two BIG EAST Conference marks, won four BIG EAST titles, and was named All-American, All-BIG EAST, All-Metropolitan and All-New Jersey in 1981 while leading the Pirates to the BIG EAST Indoor Championship. He was a two-time Olympian for his native country of Trinidad.
