Rev. Msgr. Charles E. Lillis

Monsignor Charles Lillis served Seton Hall in the roles of Secretary, Bursar and Director of Athletics from 1927–45. He was founder and director of the Annual Seton Hall Track Carnival and was responsible for reviving varsity football from 1930–33. He, along with then Seton Hall President Monsignor Kelly, was responsible for the planning and erecting of Walsh Gymnasium in 1940. He was responsible for the appointment of a number of outstanding coaches, the revival of interest in basketball, baseball and track and was also responsible for the introduction of the sport of fencing to the University.
