Richard J. Regan
- Induction:
- 1973
For over 50 years, Richard Regan was synonymous with Seton Hall Athletics. The catalyst of the Pirates’ 1953 NIT Championship team, Regan saw Seton Hall go 39-1 with him on the freshman team and 80-12 with him on the varsity team. At the time of his induction, his 1,167 points ranked him fifth on the all-time scoring list. After serving time in the Marine Corps and playing three seasons in the NBA, Regan returned to Seton Hall, coaching the men’s basketball team for 10 years, becoming Director of Athletics and then serving as Executive Director of the Pirate Blue Athletics Fund. Regan’s No. 12 is retired, and Seton Hall’s athletics and recreation center bears his name.
