Tracy Baskin

A Seton Hall track & field legend and three-time All-American, Tracy Baskin brought the University its first individual national championship in its 100+ year history, winning the 800-meters at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship in 1987. He not only became the 800-meter national champion, he also was the No. 1 ranked college athlete in the country and captured the bronze medal in the 1,000-meters as well. Additionally, he anchored SHU’s 4x400m relay team to a freshmen world record. A five-time BIG EAST champion, Baskin was named the New Jersey Sports Writer’s Association “Athlete of the Decade” for the 1980s. Following graduation, he went on to become a member of the 1988 U.S. Olympic Team and competed in the 800-meter event.
