Swimmers and Divers Sweep St. Peter's

The women defeated the Peacocks by a score of 142-77. Sophomore Jessica Socha (North Brunswick, NJ) led the squad with victories in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events, finishing in respective times of 25.17 and 55.73. Freshman Hilary Steinour (Carlisle, PA) also earned two victories by completing the 200-yard freestyle in 1:58.47 and the 200-yard butterfly in 2:09.35. Junior Maran Lougheed (Stouffville, Ontario) chipped in with a victory in the 200-yard individual medley (2:13.82), while freshman Beth Miklius (Palatine, IL) garnered a victory in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:48.83). Senior diver Amanda Kline (Green Brook, NJ) led the Pirates on the boards, recording victories in the one-meter (272.70) and three-meter (276.60) diving events.
The men outscored the Peacocks 140-77. Sophomore Asaf Shachaf (Haifa, Israel) led the Pirates with victories in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events, clocking in at respective times of 21.61 and 47.04. Senior Mark Arzaga (Toronto, Ontario) also paced the squad by finishing the 200-yard individual medley in 1:56.79 and the 200-yard butterfly in 156.16, earning him victories in both events. Junior Peter Economou (Howell, NJ) earned a victory in the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.47), while sophomore Jon Bertera (Oakton, VA) garnered a victory by completing the 200-yard backstroke in 2:02.87. Freshman Peter DeNoble (Staten Island, NY) also contributed with victories on the one and three-meter boards, earning respective scores of 275.93 and 289.80.
Mark Arzaga, Jon Bertera, Peter Economou, Asaf Shachaf, Jessica Socha and Hilary Steinour will travel to Montgomery, AL to compete in the US Open, running from November 30 through December 2.
