Ilaria, who recorded a 7-6 decision over sophomore Ryan Lewis, recorded a takedown in the closing seconds of the match to come from behind for the Pirates' lone victory of the night. Ilaria is just the third wrestler to record a victory over a Golden Gopher wrestler in five Minnesota dual meets this year.
The Golden Gophers won nine of the ten matches to run their dual meet record to a perfect 5-0. Minnesota also recorded a 33-3 victory over 19th-ranked Hofstra and a 49-0 blanking of Princeton earlier in the day.
Seton Hall senior Everett Bell (Wallington, NJ) also turned in a strong performance at 174, but was edged by Minnesota junior Matt Kraft, 3-1.
In the final match of the night, Minnesota redshirt freshman Damion Hahn was victorious in his return to his high school alma mater, posting an 8-2 decision over Seton Hall junior John Garriques (Hackettstown, NJ) at 184 pounds. Garriques trailed the Lakewood native just 2-1 entering the third period, but Hahn pulled away to earn the decision.
Seton Hall returns to action on Tuesday, January 2 when it travels to Edmond, Oklahoma for dual meets against the University of Central Oklahoma and the University of Oklahoma.
