This will be the second consecutive nationally ranked Big Ten foe that Seton Hall will face. The Pirates dropped a 31-7 decision to 21st-ranked Wisconsin last Saturday, Dec. 2 at Lyndhurst High School.
Seton Hall is led by senior co-captain Everett Bell (Wallington, NJ) who is ranked 18th in the nation at 174 pounds. Bell has a record of 10-3 on the season with two of his losses coming against ranked wrestlers (second-ranked Josh Koscheck of Edinboro and third-ranked Maurice Worthy of Army).
Lakewood High School, the host of the meet, is the alma mater of Minnesota redshirt freshman Damion Hahn. A 1999 Lakewood graduate, Hahn won three New Jersey state titles and finished his career with a 131-3 overall record. New Jersey's first four-time state finalist, Hahn collected 89 pins during his career, including 29 in his senior campaign. He is 8-0 at 184 pounds this season for Minnesota.
Minnesota currently has a 2-0 dual meet record. Eight of the ten starters in the Golden Gophers' lineup are presently ranked in the top-10 in their respective weight classes. Hahn is currently ranked second while junior Leroy Vega (125) and senior Brad Pike (165) are both ranked third.
