Pirate Swimmers Swept By La Salle

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - The Seton Hall University men's and women's swimming and diving squads were swept Friday evening by La Salle in their final meet of the regular season. The loss drops the men's season record to 5-5, while the women fall to 4-7. Both teams finished the season with 0-2 records against BIG EAST opponents.

The Pirate women fell to La Salle by a score of 119-118. Sophomore Maran Lougheed (Stouffville, Ontario) led the Pirates with a victory in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.30). Freshman Erin Burke (Saugus, MA) also led the squad by recording a victory in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 59.91.

The Pirate men lost to La Salle by a score of 141-94. Junior Mark Arzaga (Toronto, Ontario) led the Pirates with victories in the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard breaststroke with respective times of 50.85 and 58.66. Freshmen Jon Bertera (Oakton, VA) and Asaf Shachaf (Haifa, Israel) also contributed with respective victories in the 100-yard backstroke (54.05) and 100-yard freestyle (47.28).

The Pirates will return to action on February 17-19, when they compete at the BIG EAST Championships, held in Uniondale, NY.
