Ilaria Named ECWA Co-Wrestler of the Week

SOUTH ORANGE, NEW JERSEY (January 16, 2001) - Seton Hall University
wrestler Dave Ilaria (Belleville, NJ/St. Peter's Prep) has been named East
Coast Wrestling Association (ECWA) Co-Wrestler of the Week for all
competition from January 8-14.
The Seton Hall junior shares the award with Hofstra senior Eric Schmiesing.
In two matches at 133 pounds last week, Ilaria recorded a fall and a major decision, both against conference opponents. He pinned Ricky Meritt of Boston College in 3:37 and then scored an 8-0 decision over Drexel's Bill Heverly, the conference's fourth-ranked wrestler at 133.
Ilaria, who is currently ranked third in the ECWA in his weight class, leads the Pirates with a 13-5 record. Three of his five losses have come against nationally ranked opponents.
Ilaria and the Pirates return to action on Thursday, January 18 when they face intrastate rival Rutgers at 7 p.m. in Piscataway, New Jersey.
