Rutgers (5-2) won the first seven matches, and eight out of ten to capture the victory. Seton Hall slipped to 1-7 overall with four losses coming to nationally ranked foes.
Ilaria, last week's East Coast Wrestling Association (ECWA) Co-Wrestler of the Week, turned in another impressive outing at 133 pounds when he pinned Jon Rodriguez in 3:42. It was his third straight victory and second pin in three matches.
Settembrino notched his fourth straight victory at 141 with a hard-fought 4-3 decision over Rutgers senior Tom Wysocki.
Rutgers jumped ahead from the opening as junior Shane Engel-Folks rallied for a 7-6 victory over Seton Hall freshman Leet Brady (Tulsa, OK) at 157 pounds. Engel-Folks trailed for much of the match, but used a reversal late in the third period to overtake Brady.
The Scarlet Knights also received consecutive pins from Tom Tanis at 184 pounds and Rick Romero at 197 to quickly build their lead.
Seton Hall returns to action on Saturday, January 20 when it travels to Boston, Massachusetts for a 5 p.m. ECWA dual meet against Boston University.
