Wrestling Falls Twice in Oklahoma

In the dual meet against Oklahoma (2-1), junior John Garriques (Hackettstown, NJ) recorded the Pirates' lone victory, with a 7-3 decision over Nick Curcio at 184 pounds. The Sooners dominated the meet at Chickasha High School, posting three pins and a pair of technical falls.
In their second dual meet of the day, the Pirates held a 13-12 edge over Central Oklahoma, but the host Bronchos won the final two matches to rally for the victory. Central Oklahoma (2-1), currently ranked third in NCAA Division II, received decisions from All-American Mark Dodgen (125) and Cole Province (133) in edging Seton Hall.
Senior co-captain Mike Settembrino (Lyndhurst, NJ) opened the meet with a 6-2 decision over Joe Schneider at 141 pounds. Central Oklahoma won the next three matches, but Seton Hall countered by winning three of the next four to claim at 13-12 lead.
Senior co-captain Everett Bell (Wallington, NJ) scored a 13-5 major decision over Dennis Parker at 174. Senior Fikret Darzanoff (Clifton, NJ) and sophomore Carlos Panfili (Saddle Brook, NJ) also recorded victories for Seton Hall at 197 and 285 respectively.
Seton Hall (0-5) has lost four dual meets to nationally ranked opponents this season. The Pirates return to action on Saturday, January 13 when they open competition in the East Coast Wrestling Association (ECWA) with dual meets against Drexel and Boston College at noon in Philadelphia.
