Swimming & Diving Splits with Marist in Final Home Meet

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ (January 20, 2001) - The Seton Hall women's swimming and diving squad evened its season record at 5-5 with a 129-112 defeat of Marist College on Saturday. The men's squad fell to Marist 136-101, dropping its record to 4-6. This was the Pirates' final home meet of the season.

Sophomore Jess Socha (North Brunswick, NJ) led the women's squad with victories in the 50-yard freestyle (25.51) and 100-yard freestyle (55.19). Junior Maran Lougheed (Stouffville, Ontario) earned a victory by finishing the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:27.43, while classmate Liz Ackley (Dracut, MA) picked up a victory in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:57.31). Senior Amanda Kline (Green Brook, NJ) contributed with victories on the one and three-meter boards, earning respective scores of 246.15 and 258.90.

Senior Mark Arzaga (Toronto, Ontario) paced the men's squad with victories in the 200-yard individual medley and butterfly events, earning respective times of 1:56.13 and 1:52.92. Sophomore Asaf Shachaf (Haifa, Israel) finished the 50-yard freestyle in 21.55 and the 100-yard freestyle in 47.41, earning him victories in both events. Freshman Peter DeNoble (Staten Island, NY) contributed with a victory on the three-meter board (233.70) and a second-place finish on the one-meter board (240.15).

The Pirates will return to action on Monday, January 29 when they travel to Iona College for a 5 p.m. meet.
