Wrestling Rallies Past Brown, 21-14

With Seton Hall (2-8) trailing 14-12, Garriques recorded a 7-3 decision over Karl Rittger at 184 pounds to give the Pirates a 15-14 lead. In a winner-take-all match at 197, Darzanoff pinned Craig Powell in 1:50 to give Seton Hall the 21-14 victory.
In the first match of the afternoon, Brown junior Bronson Lingamfelter recorded an 8-0 major decision at heavyweight to give the Bears a 4-0 lead. But Seton Hall received consecutive victories at 125, 133 and 141 from sophomore Sam Chey (Sparta, NJ), junior Dave Ilaria (Belleville, NJ) and senior Mike Settembrino (Lyndhurst, NJ) respectively. Settembrino earned his sixth consecutive victory at 141 pounds - a 1-0 decision over Brown sophomore Dave Dies.
The teams traded one-point decisions at 149 and 157. Brown junior Clinton Frease earned a 5-4 decision over Beau Bruno at 149. Seton Hall freshman Leet Brady (Tulsa, OK) recorded a 6-5 decision over Jesse Savage at 157 for his first dual meet victory.
Brown (7-4) briefly reclaimed the lead, 14-12, with consecutive victories at 165 by Zach Schweda (18-16) and 174 by Nick Ciarcia (17-7). But Garriques and Darzanoff answered to close the match for the Pirates.
Seton Hall returns to action on Sunday, January 28 when it faces Wagner and Hofstra in dual meets beginning at noon at Walsh Gym.
