The women's squad defeated Iona 139-88. Sophomore Jess Socha (North Brunswick, NJ) led the team with victories in the 100 and 200-yard freestyle events, finishing in respective times of 57.26 and 2:00.77. Junior Maran Lougheed (Stouffville, Ontario) garnered a victory in the 200-yard individual medley (2:20.02), while sophomore Erin Burke (Saugus, MA) earned a victory in the 100-yard butterfly (59.44). Freshman Beth Miklius (Palatine, IL) also contributed by earning a victory in the 50-yard freestyle (26.37). Senior Amanda Kline (Green Brook, NJ) led the team on the boards, posting scores of 176.30 in the one-meter dive and 178 in the three-meter dive, earning her victories in both events.
The men's squad defeated Iona 125-105. Junior Pete Economou (Howell, NJ) led the Pirates with victories in the 100-yard butterfly (52.93) and 1000-yard freestyle (10:25.29). Senior Mark Arzaga (Toronto, Ontario) pitched in with victories in the 100-yard backstroke (57.07) and 200-yard individual medley (1:57.47), while sophomore Asaf Shachaf (Haifa, Israel) earned a victory in the 50-yard freestyle (22.23). Sophomore Jon Bertera (Oakton, VA) contributed with a victory in the 100-yard freestyle (48.76), while junior Greg Moulton (Warwick, RI) garnered a victory in the 500-yard freestyle (5:06.77).
The Pirates will return to action on Friday, February 2 when they travel to La Salle University for a 5 p.m. meet.
