Wrestling Cruises Past Sacred Heart, 25-6

Seton Hall (4-9, 3-3 ECWA) captured the first four matches and eight of ten on the afternoon. The loss was the first in conference action for Sacred Heart (7-4, 3-1 ECWA).
After Bell opened the match with a major decision over Steve Forrest at 174 pounds, junior John Garriques (Hackettstown, NJ) followed with a 5-3 decision over Anthony Reynolds at 184. Garriques improved to a perfect 6-0 in conference action. Reynolds, who was ranked second in the ECWA at 184, suffered his first conference loss of the season (3-1).
Senior Fikret Darzanoff (Clifton, NJ) and sophomore Carlos Panfili (Saddle Brook, NJ) earned decisions at 197 and heavyweight respectively as the Pirates jumped out to a 13-0 advantage.
Sacred Heart received victories from Phil Kalil at 125 and Rob Belville at 149.
Also recording victories for Seton Hall were junior Dave Ilaria (Belleville, NJ) at 133, senior Mike Settembrino (Lyndhurst, NJ) at 141, sophomore Greg Ilaria (Belleville, NJ) at 157 and freshman Terry Madden (Bloomingburgh, NY) at 165.
With his 7-3 decision over Greg Ruggiero, Settembrino extended his winning streak to eight straight matches dating back to January 2. He is the conference's top-ranked wrestler at 141 pounds.
Seton Hall returns to action on Sunday, February 4 when it hosts Rider University in an ECWA match at 3 p.m. at Walsh Gym.
