Wrestling in Second Place at ECWA Championships

With 49 points, Seton Hall is currently in second place after the first day of competition. Hofstra, with seven wrestlers in the finals, leads the tournament with 78 points. ECWA champions earn automatic bids to the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships.
Dave Ilaria (Belleville, NJ) pinned Bill Heverly of Drexel in 2:48 to win his semifinal match at 133 pounds. He will face top-seeded Roman Fleszar of Hofstra in the 133-pound championship.
Mike Settembrino (Lyndhurst, NJ) earned a pair of impressive victories at 141 pounds to advance to the finals. He pinned Adam Miles of Boston University in 1:10 in the quarterfinals and then earned a 12-1 major decision over Steve Pregiato of Boston College in the semifinals. He will face Hofstra's Jason DeBruin in the 141-pound championship.
Everett Bell (Wallington, NJ), the top seed at 174 pounds, battled his way to the championship with a 9-4 decision over Dan Kennett of Drexel in the quarterfinals and a 4-2 decision over fourth-seeded Dan Degan of Boston College in the semifinals. Bell will face Hofstra's Rob Anspach in the 174-pound championship in a rematch of last year's final.
At 184 pounds, John Garriques (Hackettstown, NJ) edged Hofstra's Ralph Everett, 2-1 in the quarterfinals and then defeated Sacred Heart's Anthony Reynolds, 9-5 in the semifinals to advance to the finals. He will face defending champion Shawn Scannell of Rider in the 184-pound championship.
The ECWA championship matches will be held on Sunday, March 4 at Binghamton University.
