NEW YORK, N.Y. The Seton Hall tennis team lost its match to Columbia on Friday 7-0.  In second doubles play, seniors Iva Gyurgina (Radomir, Bulgaria) and Ebru Burduroglu (Istanbul, Turkey) defeated Marlena Hall and Sydney Murray 8-5, to earn the only victory for the Pirates in the match.  Seton Hall’s record drops to 1-1 on the fall season.

Junior Nadja Sein (Tallinn, Estonia) was defeated Columbia’s Angela Hendry in three sets (1-6, 7-6 (7-3), 10-8) in first singles action.  The other most competitive match came in third singles play when Burduroglu lost to Nina Suda (2-6, 6-4, 10-8) in three sets.

The Pirates have concluded play for the fall season, but are waiting for ITA Regional selections to be made.  The ITA Regional Championships will be played on Oct. 20-24 at Hanover, N.H.
