
Track & Field Competes in NCAA East Regional Championships

Novak finished in eighth place in the 800 championship with a time of 1:51.93. In Friday’s preliminary competition, Novak placed second in his heat with a time of 1:49.60, ranking sixth among the event’s 23 competitors.
The men’s 4x400-meter relay team of freshman Jemel Williams (Bronx, N.Y.), junior Bryan Burney (Mebane, N.C.), sophomore Greg Gomes (Somerset, N.J.) and freshman Carl Smith (Camden, N.J.) ran to a seventh-place finish with a time of 3:09.16.
The women’s 4x400 team came in 16th place. The quartet of senior Denise Cruse (Tacoma Park, Md.), senior Gorgeous Harper (Philadelphia, Pa.), junior Shakeema Martin (Lakewood, N.J.) and freshman Alexandra McCoy (Goldsboro, N.C.) posted a time of 3:41.79.
Burney also ran the 800-meter run preliminaries on Friday, running the race in 1:50.00, ranking third in his head and 10th overall.
