GREENVILLE, S.C. Former Seton Hall point guard, Andre Barrett, was the second overall pick in the 2006 NBA Development League Expansion Draft on Tuesday afternoon. The Colorado 14ers selected the rights to Elton Brown, a 6-foot-9 power forward from the University of Virginia, with the number one overall selection.
Barrett played a total of 19 games in the NBA last year split among the Phoenix Suns and Toronto Raptors. He averaged 4.6 points and 2.7 rebounds. Barrett left Seton Hall in 2004 as one of the finest guards to ever don a Pirate uniform. He ranks seventh on the all-time scoring list (1,861 points), second in career starts (122) and second in assists (662). Barrett is also the program's all-time leader in minutes played at 4,296.
Other first round selections included forward Jawad Williams (Anaheim Arsenal) and forward Duane Erwin (Los Angeles D-Fenders).
Each team that participated in the Expansion Draft will submit a preference list of its selected players to the D-League Office. Four players from that list can be signed to a league contract.
