SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. Junior James Gurr (Sydney, Australia) will attempt to qualify for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China at the Australian Olympic trials held on February 29-March 1.

Gurr will compete in the 800-meter run where he ran a 1:50.87 to earn a spot in the Trials. In his attempt to make the Australian Olympic Team, Gurr must qualify for the finals of the event, and post an Olympic standard time of 1:46.00 at the Trials or during the course of the season with the Pirates.

This season at Seton Hall, Gurr has won three 800-meter races, including a Metropolitan Championship on February 1. He is set to compete at the IC4A Indoor Championships both the 400-meter dash and 800-meter event on March 9 upon his return to South Orange.
