Track and Field Runs at IC4A/ECAC Outdoor Championships

PRINCETON, N.J.  - The Seton Hall track and field women’s team placed ninth and the men finished 22^nd at the IC4A/ECAC Outdoor Championships. Senior Greg Gomes (Somerset, N.J.) was the Pirates’ lone victorious athlete at the competition.

Gomes improved his NCAA Regional time and set a new personal-best time of 46.42 in the finals of the 400-meter dash to earn his fifth overall championship of the season.

For the women, sophomore Toneisha Friday (Somerset, N.J.) recorded an NCAA Regional time of 54.12 in the 400-meter dash, as she went on to place third.

The women’s 4x100-meter relay team also earned a spot in the Regionals with a 54.63 effort on their way to a third place finish.

Senior Imani Gilliam (Pennsauken, N.J.) set a new personal-best time of 13.71 in the preliminary heats of the 110-meter hurdles, and placed fifth in the finals with a time of 13.85.

In the women’s 400-meter hurdles, junior Chavanne Hubbard (Somerset, N.J.) finished third (1:01.27), and sophomore Jernail Hayes (Newark, Del.) ran to a fourth place finish (1:01.53).

Freshman Shakia Forbes (Rocky Mount, N.C.) finished fifth in the long jump with an attempt of 6.08 meters.

Senior Dwayne Joseph (Willingboro, N.J.) achieved a career-best time of 14.10 on his way to a fourth place finish in the 110-meter hurdles.

In the men’s relays, the 4x400 team placed seventh (3:34.33), while the 4x800 squad finished in eighth place (7:41.84).

The Pirates will send 10 individual athletes and three relay teams to the NCAA Regionals in Tallahassee, Fla. from May 30-31.
