SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. The Seton Hall tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to St. John’s in its final home-match of the season. The Pirates are now 7-11 and 2-7 in the BIG EAST.
Freshman Elizabeth Verow (Barnt Green, England) and sophomore Belfin Sunbul (Izmir, Turkey) each won in singles competition. The duo of senior Danielle Viola and Sunbul won in the No. 3 doubles portion of the match.
The Pirates were almost able to come away with the doubles point, as Verow and classmate Courtney Kilarski (Roseville, Calif.) rallied from a 7-2 deficit to tie the match, but the comeback came short as the Red Storm won the final two games to seal the win.
