
Tennis Has Busy Day at West Point Invitational

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Seton Hall tennis team continued play at the West Point Eastern Invitational on Friday. The Pirates competed in a series of consolation brackets and sophomore Courtney Kilarski (Roseville, Calif.) is in contention for a consolation title.
Sophomore Elizabeth Verow (Barnt Green, England) fell to Samantha Inacker, 8-3, in the first singles consolation quarterfinals.
Kilarski topped Kari Pope of Army, 8-5, to advance to the semifinals where she faced Jackie Stimmel. The sophomore coasted to an 8-2 win, and will face Jinny DeCarlos from FDU in the finals.
Junior Belfin Sunbul (Izmir, Turkey) played in the "Honor" consolation draw on Saturday, and beat Pittsburgh's Adela Aprodu, 8-5. In the quarterfinals, Sunbul bested Alyssa Lucas of Niagara, 8-2, to move into the semi's where she will face Bowdoin Hoener of Syracuse.
In the "Lichtenberg" doubles consolations, the pair of Alexandra Harvey (Chatham, N.J.) and Slavina Kaplonska (Sofia, Bulgaria) were defeated by Pittsburgh's Gabrielle Catanzanti and Karma Parbhu, 8-0. From there, the duo moved into the consolation of that draw, and topped FDU's Jessica DeCartes and Tina Martine, 8-5. In the semifinals, they were topped by LIU's Stephanie Elle and Dana Lahens, 8-5.
The West Point Eastern Invitational will conclude on Sunday, September 27.
