SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Senior Jeremy Hazell (Harlem, N.Y.) had surgery today to repair the broken scaphoid bone in his left wrist; it was announced by head coach Kevin Willard.
The surgery, performed by Dr. Scott Wolfe at The Hospital for Special Surgery, was done to minimize any possible long-term damage and to provide an opportunity for a hastened recovery time.
"Now that the surgery has been performed, we're looking forward to Jeremy having a full recovery," Willard said. "Our first and foremost priority is his long-term outlook, but obviously we'll be happy to have him back on the court as soon as possible."
Hazell's injury occurred during the second half of Seton Hall's 83-78 victory over Alabama in the first round of the U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam on Nov. 19. He scored a game-high 27 points in that game and had averaged 24.0 points per game through the season's first three contests.
