
Sher To Compete For Hong Kong at Universiade Games

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Freshman Pui Wing Sher (Shui Wai, Hong Kong) has been selected to represent Hong Kong at the 2011 Summer Universiade in Shenzhen, China.
Sher has also represented Hong Kong in the 2009 Fed Cup, an international competition held annually similar to the Davis Cup. She won eight singles matches, primarily playing in the No. 1 position, during the fall for the Pirates which included a first round win at the ITA Regionals in October. Sher kicked off the spring season with a straight-set win against Marist.
The Universiade is an international multi-sport event, similar to the Olympics that occurs every other year, designed for college athletes to compete and represent their countries. This year, the Universiade will be held from August 11-23 and will have 21 events which include; Fencing, Artistic Gymnastics, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Judo, Swimming Open Water, Diving, Table Tennis, Tennis, Basketball (Men/Women), Football (Men), Volleyball (Men/Women), Archery, Badminton, Beach Volleyball (Men/Women), Sailing & Surfing, Taekwondo, Golf, Cycling, (Track, Road, Mountain Bike and BMX), Sport Shooting (& Shotgun), Weightlifting
