BAIRD, N.J. - The Seton Hall tennis team lost to St. John's, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon. The Pirates are now 5-12 overall and 2-6 in conference play.
SHU almost came away with a doubles point after the No. 1 pair of Pui Wing Sher (Shui Wai, Hong Kong) and Rocio Portela (Demetrio Vega Baja, Puerto Rico) knocked off the Red Storm's top pair, 8-5. The duo of Elizabeth Verow (Barnt Green, England) and Michelle Weerasinghe (Edina, Minn.) held a 4-1 lead in the No. 2 slot, but did not win another game and fell, 8-4.
Sher won her No. 1 singles match against Nevena Selakovic after getting off to a slow start. Sher used an extra game to take set one, 7-5, but coasted and won 6-0 to take the match.
The Pirates hit the court on Friday, April 8 when they travel to Georgetown for a 2:00 p.m. contest.
