SHU (5-10, 1-2) remains one win shy of last year's total.
Sophomores Rocio Portela (Demetrio Vega Baja, Puerto Rico) and Chloe Sher (Tin Shui Wai, Hong Kong) provided a bright spot for the Pirates on the day, securing the team's two points as they each scored a victory in singles play.
Playing in the number one slot for the 13th time in as many appearances this season, Sher dispatched the Panthers' top player, Jocelyn Lu, in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1.
It was the fifth consecutive singles win for Sher, the reigning BIG EAST Women's Tennis Player of the Week and her ninth overall in dual matches this season.
It was also the second time in 2011-12 that Sher has defeated Lu in as many meetings.
Portela tallied her second win of the spring season by moving past Pitt's Gabrielle Cantanzariti, 7-5, 6-4 in the number two position to round out the Pirates' scoring on the day.
All other Pirates in singles action fell in straight sets.
Playing together in the top doubles slot, Portela and Sher posted their eighth straight win as a team, ousting Lu and Taylor Washington, 8-6.
The two other SHU doubles teams had already fell short in their matches, giving the doubles point to Pittsburgh.
The Pirates take to the road next for a matchup with St. John's on Sunday, April 1. Start-time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
