
Teague Earns Spot on BIG EAST Honor Roll

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Eugene Teague (Vineland, N.J.) became the fourth Seton Hall player to collect a BIG EAST weekly award this season earning Honor Roll recognition Monday after posting a team-high 18 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Lafayette. The 6-foot-9 center registered his BIG EAST leading sixth double-double of the season in only 19 minutes of action versus the Leopards before leaving the game early in the second half due to injury. Fuquan Edwin (Nov. 18, Dec. 23) and Sterling Gibbs (Dec. 9 & Dec. 16) were named to the Honor Roll earlier this year, while Jaren Sina received the conference's Rookie of the Week award on Nov. 25.
Teague did the majority of his work in the first half scoring 14 points on 6-for-6 shooting and grabbing eight rebounds to lead the Pirates into the break with a 32-point advantage. He hit his first seven shots and finished 4-for-4 at the free-throw line before leaving the contest after a hard fall with 14:42 to go.
The red-shirt senior from Vineland, N.J. has the second highest field goal percentage (.620) and rebounding average (9.4) in the BIG EAST through 13 contests. Teague is the conference leader with 3.8 offensive rebounds per game this season.
Xavier's Matt Stainbrook was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week and DePaul's Billy Garrett, Jr. received Rookie of the Week. Khyle Marshall (Butler), Doug McDermott (Creighton), Bryce Cotton (Providence) and James Bell (Villanova) were also selected to the Weekly Honor Roll.
Seton Hall (9-4) visits Providence (10-3) Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. as the second game of the BIG EAST New Year's Eve Marathon on FOX Sports 1.
