
Sterling Gibbs Named to Weekly Honor Roll

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Seton Hall junior Sterling Gibbs (Scotch Plains, N.J.) was named to the season's first BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday.
Gibbs was instrumental in leading the Pirates to a perfect 3-0 start to their season and a berth in Monday's night's Paradise Jam championship game. The point guard is averaging 16.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game in the season's early goings and is a lock to be named to the Paradise Jam All-Tournament Team. On Nov. 16 vs. Mercer, the Gibbs scored 17 points to go with five rebounds, five assists and three steals. In Friday's Paradise Jam opener vs. Nevada, Gibbs led all scorers with 15 points to go with three assists. On Sunday evening vs. Gardner-Webb, he tallied a game-high 16 points to go with five assists and two steals.
Providence's LaDontae Henton was named BIG EAST Player of the Week. Xavier's Trevon Bluiett earned Rookie of the Week honors. Those joining Gibbs on the honor roll include Butler's Kellen Dunham, Creighton's Isaiah Zierdan, Georgetown's Joshua Smith and Xavier's Matt Stainbrook.
Gibbs and the rest of the Pirates will return to action tonight when they play Illinois State at 9:00 p.m. ET in the championship game of the 2014 U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam.
